abdominal ultrasound assesses the visible liver, gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, spleen and kidneys.
The pelvic ultrasound assesses the uterus, endometrium, ovaries and surrounding pelvic structures. A transvaginal ultrasound may be offered, with your informed consent, when it would provide a more detailed assessment.

A comprehensive ultrasound assessment of the abdominal, urinary and male reproductive organs.
Your health check includes:

Testicular ultrasound

The abdominal ultrasound assesses the visible liver, gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, spleen and kidneys.
The prostate is assessed through the lower abdomen with a full bladder. The testes and surrounding scrotal structures are assessed using a separate external ultrasound examination.

What Happens During Your Appointment?
Consultation
Your sonographer will explain the examination and discuss any relevant medical history or concerns.
Ultrasound Examination
Ultrasound gel will be applied to the areas being examined. Each organ included within your chosen package will be assessed systematically.
A transvaginal examination may be offered as part of the Women’s Health Check when clinically appropriate. This is optional and requires your informed consent.
Explanation of Your Findings
Your ultrasound findings will be explained clearly following the examination wherever appropriate.
Written Report
You will receive a professional written ultrasound report documenting the examinations performed, the findings and any recommendations.
With your consent, your report can also be shared with your GP or another healthcare professional.
Preparing for Your Health Check
To help us obtain the clearest possible images, you will usually be asked to:

Avoid eating for approximately six hours before your appointment

Drink clear, non-fizzy fluids

Attend with a comfortably full bladder

Take essential prescribed medication as usual unless advised otherwise

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
Your complete preparation instructions will be provided with your booking confirmation.
If you have diabetes or another medical condition that makes fasting difficult, please contact us before your appointment for individual guidance.
Important Limitations
An Ultrasound Health Check provides a detailed assessment of the organs included within your selected package, but it cannot detect every health condition.
The examination:

Is not a whole-body scan

Cannot exclude every form of cancer

Cannot reliably assess the stomach or bowel

Does not replace blood tests or other investigations

Does not replace NHS screening programmes

Cannot guarantee that a future health condition will not develop

A prostate ultrasound assesses visible size and structure but cannot diagnose or exclude prostate cancer.
A thyroid ultrasound assesses the gland’s structure but does not show how well the thyroid is functioning. Thyroid function requires appropriate blood tests.
Persistent, new or concerning symptoms should always be discussed with your GP.

The Women’s Health Check includes ultrasound assessment of the abdominal organs, urinary bladder, uterus and ovaries.
What is included in the Men’s Health Check?
The Men’s Health Check includes ultrasound assessment of the abdominal organs, urinary bladder, prostate and testes.
What does the Premium package include?
The Premium Women’s and Men’s Health Checks include all areas within the standard package plus a thyroid ultrasound.
Is this a whole-body scan?
No. Only the areas listed within your selected package will be examined.
Can ultrasound detect cancer?
Ultrasound may identify an abnormal appearance requiring further investigation, but it cannot detect or exclude every cancer.
Does thyroid ultrasound test thyroid function?
No. Ultrasound assesses the thyroid’s structure. Thyroid function is assessed using blood tests.
Does prostate ultrasound test for prostate cancer?
No. Ultrasound can assess the prostate’s visible size and appearance but cannot diagnose or exclude prostate cancer.
Will I receive a report?
Yes. You will receive a professional written ultrasound report documenting your findings and any recommendations.
What happens if something is found?
The finding will be explained and documented. You will be advised whether GP review, monitoring, blood tests, further imaging or specialist assessment is recommended.
