Why Patients Choose Us

Private diagnostics, run with NHS‑grade governance.

We built MedHealth around the two things private ultrasound is usually missing: speed and rigour. Every clinic operates under CQC regulation, every sonographer is HCPC‑registered, and every report follows the same clinical standards as an NHS imaging department.

✓ No GP referral required

✓ Findings explained during your scan

✓ Written report the same day

✓ Sonographer-led clinical governance

What Happens During a Hernia or Lump Ultrasound?

Before your scan, your sonographer will discuss your symptoms, medical history and the area of concern.

Ultrasound gel will be applied to the skin and the probe gently moved over the area to assess the tissues beneath. If you have a suspected hernia, you may be asked to cough, strain, change position or stand while the area is examined. This helps assess whether a hernia is present and whether it changes with movement or pressure.

For a lump or swelling, the sonographer will assess its size, location, appearance and relationship to the surrounding tissues. Doppler ultrasound may also be used to assess blood flow where appropriate.

The examination is usually straightforward and should not be painful, although gentle pressure may be required over the area.

Your findings will be explained where appropriate, and your detailed digital report will usually be provided the same day.

No referral needed — call, email or book online, and we’ll find you an appointment this week.
