What does the scan check?
Abdomen
Liver, gallbladder, biliary tree, kidneys, pancreas where visible, spleen and abdominal aorta.
Bladder and prostate area
Bladder appearance, bladder emptying where appropriate, and prostate size where visible on ultrasound.
Testicular ultrasound
Both testes, epididymis and surrounding scrotal structures, including checks for lumps, cysts, hydroceles and varicoceles.
Why add PSA and testosterone?
PSA blood test
Commonly used as part of prostate health assessment. It does not diagnose prostate cancer on its own, but it can provide useful information alongside symptoms and clinical advice.
Testosterone blood test
May be useful if you have persistent tiredness, low mood, reduced libido, poor motivation or concerns about hormone levels.
